Dental Implants

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots, usually titanium screws, surgically placed into the jawbone to serve as anchors for replacement teeth, which can be individual crowns, bridges, or dentures. The process involves a healing period for the implant to bond with the jawbone, followed by the attachment of an abutment and finally the custom-made artificial tooth. Dental implants provide a stable, comfortable, and natural-looking solution for missing teeth, restoring chewing function, preventing surrounding teeth from shifting, and improving facial appearance.

Sedation Dentistry

Oral Moderate Sedation

A choice of single and incremental dose protocols are used to medicate the patient as early as the day before treatment. The medication used can help reduce the memory as well as the sights and smells of the dental office to assist in avoiding recall of any anxiety related trauma.

The sedative effect also allows more dental procedures to be completed in fewer appointments as well as allowing complex procedures to be performed in less overall time.

Nitrous

Nitrous oxide is an odourless gas that is used in combination with pure oxygen to quickly relieve dentistry-related anxiety. As you inhale nitrous oxide, your feelings of anxiety dissolve quickly and are replaced by a warm, gentle and euphoric feeling. Patients have described the experience as peacefully floating into a dreamlike state. For the apprehensive child or adult, nitrous oxide can be the key to a comfortable and anxiety-free dental experience.

Cosmetic Dentistry

dental veneers

Veneers are very thin tooth shaped shells or casings that are attached to the front part of teeth. It is an upgraded version of your existing teeth made up mostly of porcelain or composite resin. We recommend veneers that are made of high quality porcelain as they are technically stronger than composite resin veneers and do not change in colour or stain. Generally speaking, the procedure for porcelain veneers takes about twice the amount of time as composite veneers however the resulting veneers last twice as long.

ZOOM whitening

Zoom is a popular and effective whitening process that is widely used among Dentists worldwide. It is the most impactful way to lighten any existing discolouration of enamel and dentin.

In this process our Dentists and Hygienist will use a patented Zoom Lamp that accelerates the whitening process by activating hydrogen peroxide in the whitening gel agent. As it begins to react, oxygen is permitted to enter the enamel and dentin in order to whiten any stained surfaces while leaving the structure/ shape of the tooth unchanged.

We also offer custom made and home delivered whitening trays from Phillips. Call to inquire more about this option.

Crowns & Bridges

Dental crowns are a custom-fitted, artificial "cap" that covers a damaged or weakened tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and appearance. Crowns are used to protect teeth with large fillings or after a root canal, and to cover discolored or misshaped teeth. Common materials include porcelain, metal, and zirconia. A properly cared for crown can last for many years, often a decade or more.

Dental bridges are a fixed dental prosthetic that fills the space of one or more missing teeth, anchored by dental crowns on the adjacent "abutment" teeth or by dental implants. The bridge itself consists of false teeth, called pontics made from materials like porcelain or metal, and it is cemented in place by a dentist. It helps improve eating, speaking, and overall appearance, though it is not a removable device.

Fillings

composite resin

A composite restoration, also known as a composite filling or dental bonding, is a tooth-colored dental treatment used to repair teeth damaged by decay, fractures, or other trauma. The material is made of resin and glass particles and is bonded to the tooth, restoring its natural color, function, and strength. This minimally invasive procedure is a versatile option for cosmetic improvements, such as closing gaps or correcting chipped or discolored teeth.

amalgam (Available upon request)

Dental amalgam is a mixture of metals that consists of liquid (elemental) mercury and a powdered alloy composed of silver, tin, and copper. Dental amalgam fillings are also known as “silver fillings” because of their silver-like appearance.

Extractions

teeth extractions

A tooth extraction, or tooth removal, is a dental procedure to remove a tooth from its socket in the jawbone, often performed for severe decay, infection, crowding, trauma, or impacted wisdom teeth. The process involves local anesthetic to numb the area, followed by the dentist using specialized instruments to loosen and remove the tooth. Aftercare includes biting on gauze to control bleeding and form a blood clot, avoiding straws, and following the dentist's instructions for keeping the area clean and maintaining a certain diet for a few days following the procedure.

Scaling & Root Planning

Periodontal-Scaling-Root-Planing-768x510.jpg.optimal.jpg

Scaling and root plaining are the most common forms of treatment for gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by a sticky bacterial film called plaque which is constantly forming on your teeth.

Scaling removes calculus (also called tartar) and plaque from the tooth surface above and below the gum line. Root plaining improves the smoothness of the root's surfaces and removes any remaining calculus under your gums. This is important because plaque and calculus irritate the tissues of your mouth. Without treatment, this irritation leads to gum inflammation, gum recession, bleeding and eventual bone loss around the teeth. Seeing a Registered Dental Hygienist twice a year can help maintain healthy gums, as well as creating and following your own personal oral hygiene routine at home.

Invisalign

Invisalign manufactured by Align Technology

Clear aligners are a transparent plastic form of dental braces that are used to adjust teeth over time. The full Invisalign system requires a series of custom designed aligners that through sequential use shift teeth from their current position through to their desired end state. This can take anywhere from 6 to 48 aligners to complete. On average each aligner shifts teeth .25-.33 millimetres towards their desired position. In order to create the exact effective solution for each person, x-rays and intra-oral digital scans are taken to model the patient’s bite, teeth and gums. From this a 3D representation is rendered and used to 3D print the required aligners. Dentists and orthodontists who provide Invisalign are trained by Align Technology on the service suite.

Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is a dental procedure that removes infected, injured, or dead pulp (nerve tissue) from inside a tooth to save it from extraction. The process involves cleaning, disinfecting, filling, and sealing the tooth's internal canals, preventing future infection and protecting the surrounding bone and other teeth. This endodontic treatment, often performed under local anesthetic, allows you to keep your natural tooth and avoid the need for artificial replacements like implants or bridges.
